One of Rylie's favorite pasttimes is reading. She loves to go to the library and pick out books. This last time, we were able to find some Dora books about Dora and her puppy...two things Rylie loves. She's never seen Dora on tv, but Dora is on one of her sippy cups, and Rylie really likes her. So, she LOVES her Dora books from the library. Here she is excitedly picking out a Dora book to read. She also loves books in the Biscuit series...again, they're about a dog.
Here's a video of Rylie reading a library book that she just loves called Ten Tiny Babies. I was reading it to her the other day and paused to see if she knew which word came next, and she did. I continued doing that on every page, and she amazed me with how much of the book she's memorized! Here we are reading the book together.

Hey, Rebecca started to learn to read when she was two. My boys waited until they were four. Bet Rylie will be an early starter :) Email me in like a year and I'll teach you how to teach her :) In the meantime you can start point out any big letters to her (like if the first letter in a chapter is big and bold) and tell her the name of the letter and the sound it makes and a word that starts with that letter. Don't make flashcards or anything! Just in the context of reading together. It should only be fun!
She is a GENIUS!!! I love her little voice. What a great mom :)
