Birthday Celebrations!

Rylie turned one on Friday. To celebrate, we went to the doctor so she could get her 12 month shots. :-( She did great, though! She now weighs 17 lbs 1 oz and is 27 1/4 in. She's still in the 3-5%, but the doctor is very pleased with her growth and says she's "very well nourished" for her size. He said that her weight to height ratio is "perfect". We definitely agree! When we arrived home from the doctor's there was a little surprise waiting at our door. Poppy and Plunkie sent flowers! Notice the hand attempting to grab the flowers....she LOVES flowers! Rylie also got singing cards from her Nana, Grandpa, and Granny. She really likes those, too. She loves to open and close them while she "dances".
Our little birthday girl!
(Check out that top tooth! The doc says she's getting about 5 others in as well)
To celebrate Rylie's birthday, we took her to do one of her favorite things-swing at the park.

Today (the day after her birthday), Chick-Fil-A had their Birthday Club birthday party for July birthdays. Here we are heading out the door.

Getting ready to go to the party!
We had sooo much fun!!!! The party lasted from 10:30-12. We got there, signed in, got a cup of goodies (you'll see that later), and got Rylie a free kid's meal. She also got a sticker. Then, they had all the birthday kids gather around and each child was honored. Then, we all sang happy birthday. After that, everyone gathered around the cow and we all did the chicken dance! AND all the birthday kids got a brownie-a-la-mode and a coupon for a free something (fries, drink, nuggets, dessert, etc.)
Rylie couldn't take her eyes off the cow. Lately, she has really gotten excited about cows. She points to them in books, on tv, etc. and "mooos"

We bribed her with chicken to get her to keep her hat on long enough for a photo...it was just too cute!

The Birthday Song!
Chicken Dance
Classic Rylie pose as of late. She use to point to her nose when we'd ask her where her nose is. Now, she sticks her finger up it and says, "neh, neh, neh, neh, neh" and it comes out all nasaly since her finger is jammed up there! :-)
Checking out the cow
She likes him/her!
Yummy!!! I really like this photo!
Licking some sweet ice cream off some sweet fingers! :-)
She likes to "examine" everything these days.
The cup of goodies Rylie got for her birthday
She got a free fry!

This is a typical scene in our home 1-2 minutes after play has begun. We've decided that Rylie has too many toys. So, our birthday present to her was to clean out her toys. Dumping them all on the floor so we can begin sorting
Tripp's "this is a ridiculous amount of toys for a one year old" face. He wanted you guys to see to scale the "overwhelmingness" of the toys.
After sorting, goodwill-ing, and storing "baby" things for future kiddos, we were left with two bins. We'll alternate bins, only pulling one of them out for the day. The white things in the front left of the photo are empty Gerber Puffs containers that we'll use as bowling pins when we get 10 of them! We had some extra apples lying around, so I made an apple strudel. This was my first 1experience with phyllo, and I really enjoyed it! Somewhat labor intensive, but it was fun!
All the yumminess in the middle....mmmmm!
